Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing is seeking a Controls Engineer for its Pontiac, MI plant. The role focuses on troubleshooting, maintaining and improving highly automated controls, robotics, and welding systems on a 1st shift (6:00 AM–2:30 PM, M–F).

You will design and program PLCs, HMIs, and robotic/ manufacturing equipment while leading failure troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts to reduce cycle times and standardize equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with Rockwell software and AB CompactLogix, GuardLogix, PanelView plus platforms.
• Electrical knowledge: install hardware and wiring; program and debug automated robotic welding and assembly systems.
• Able to program PanelView (HMI) and PLC.

Responsibilities

• Design and program PLC, HMI, robots and other automated manufacturing equipment.
• Lead troubleshooting of malfunctioning equipment.
• Drive continuous improvement, cycle time reduction and standardization.
• Incorporate error-proofing strategies and support plant flow.
