Job summary
Challenge Manufacturing is seeking a highly skilled controls engineer for our Walker, MI plant. The role focuses on standardizing and launching automated welding and robotic systems with a strong emphasis on Rockwell PLC/HMI programming.
Ideal candidates have 5+ years of PLC/HMI experience, plus a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and familiarity with AB CompactLogix/GuardLogix. Join us on 1st shift to contribute to our ESOP-driven, quality-focused culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 2–3 years system integration experience preferred.
- 5+ years PLC & HMI programming experience.
- Experience with Rockwell software and AB CompactLogix/GuardLogix.
- Able to design prints and install electrical wiring.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and improve machine standards.
- Design and program PLC, HMI, robots, and related equipment.
- Support installation, controls issues, and wiring upgrades.
- Lead troubleshooting of malfunctioning equipment.
- Drive continuous improvement like cycle time reduction and error-proofing.
