Job summary

BrainWorks Search is partnered with a leading automotive manufacturer near Detroit to hire a Controls Engineer. This hands‑on, plant‑floor role focuses on supporting controls and automation in a highly automated manufacturing environment.

You will troubleshoot PLCs, diagnose ladder logic issues, support robotics and automated cells, and collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering to minimize downtime. 3–7+ years of relevant experience and background with Allen-Bradley or Siemens is preferred.

Qualifications

3–7+ years of controls, automation, electrical, or industrial maintenance experience preferred.
Strong PLC troubleshooting and ladder-logic experience.
Experience with Allen‑Bradley and/or Siemens controls preferred.
Die‑casting experience strongly preferred; injection molding or extrusion environments will also be considered.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot PLCs and automated manufacturing equipment.
Utilize ladder logic to diagnose controls‑related issues.
Determine whether equipment issues are related to the physical machine or software/controls.
Support robotics and automated manufacturing cells.
Partner with Maintenance and Engineering to troubleshoot equipment downtime.
Provide hands‑on controls support on the manufacturing floor.
