Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. is seeking an Automation Engineer to join our team, supporting automated material handling equipment and controls. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and proactive maintenance to maximize equipment performance.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting PLC-based control systems, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring systems operate within design specifications. The position offers growth within CBRE Global Workplace Solutions.

Qualifications

Experience in controls and maintenance for material handling equipment.
Experience supporting conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, and print & apply systems.
Experience with preventive maintenance and reliability improvement.

Responsibilities

Promote a safe working environment by complying with codes and safety directives.
Troubleshoot and modify software for material handling control systems (PLC/PC).
Act as first level escalation in troubleshooting on-site and remotely, including after hours.
Inspect systems to ensure operation meets design specs and client requirements.
Oversee development scope, work requests, scheduling, and inspections by outside contractors.
Engineer process solutions and reliability improvements from concept to implementation.
Monitor industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, AS-I, drives).
Monitor material handling equipment metrics and coordinate with site teams to resolve issues.
Communicate with leadership, operations and maintenance on issues and timelines.
Facilitate analysis of failures to drive improvements and retraining.
Perform controls assessments to maintain equipment reliability.
Clearly communicate technical issues and project timelines with site leadership.
Cultivate positive relationships with client and maintenance teams.
Perform other job-related duties as needed.
