Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company in Hartford, CT is seeking a Claim Representative, Auto Liability, to manage low-to-moderate complexity injury and property damage claims from first notice of loss through resolution, with a focus on accuracy, empathy, and top-tier service.

You will investigate coverage, liability, and damages, coordinate with claimants, attorneys, and vendors, and maintain timely reserves and payments within authority.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Two years of bodily injury claim experience.
• Active adjuster license, where required by state law.
• Experience with claims management systems, with advanced skills in Microsoft Office and enterprise technology systems and platforms.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally to multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to analyze situations, exercise sound judgement, make effective decisions.
• Exceptional customer service skills and commitment to providing a positive experience for customers; ability to manage difficult conversations with empathy and professionalism.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage a high-volume workload and prioritize effectively.
• Proven conflict resolution and negotiation skills; ability to handle complex or disputed claims and negotiate settlements.
• Ability to manage stress, navigate difficult situations, and maintain composure and professionalism under pressure while always taking accountability for decisions.
• Strong understanding of insurance principles and terminology, with working knowledge of state insurance regulations, claim handling requirements, and fair claims practices.
• Demonstrated ability comprehend and analyze policy language.
• Ability to quickly learn from experience and apply it to new situations with speed and flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Manage an active caseload of injury and/or property damage claims from first notice of loss through resolution within level of authority.
• Typically, handles low to moderately complex personal and/or business insurance liability claims which may include coverage disputes and contractual indemnity issues.
• Gather and thoroughly investigate information by contacting all relevant parties to determine coverage, evaluate liability exposure, assess bodily injury and/or property damage, and establish appropriate reserves in accordance with policy terms and management guidance.
• Provide timely and professional communication to customers, opposing counsel, third-party vendors, internal stakeholders, and other parties.
• Negotiate with multiple constituents (e.g., claimants, attorneys, representatives) and convey claim settlements within authority and issue payments timely and accurately.
• Handle low complexity litigation.
• Maintain accurate records of claim activity in claim management systems.
• Adapt to new technology implementations, system upgrades, and digital tool rollouts, particularly in the areas of AI while maintaining productivity and service quality.
• Acquire and maintain relevant Insurance License(s) to comply with state and Travelers’ requirements within three months of starting the job.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
