Responsibilities include planning repairs, using tools such as cutting guns and plasma cutters, and inspecting finished work. A high school diploma or equivalent and technical training or apprenticeship are required.

Qualifications

• Technical school program or a 3-year apprenticeship as auto body repairer preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan the repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers.
• Disassemble, repair, and reassemble vehicles to pre-accident condition.
• Realign chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
• Replace damaged sections with new or aftermarket parts; repair glass.
• Weld and fit parts; repaint vehicles with factory-specified paint.
