Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid teaching certificate for subject/grade level assigned.
  • Eligible for Probationary Certificate through TEA approved Teacher.
  • Certification Program completion.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in ARD Committee meetings regularly.
  • Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEPs.
  • Plan and implement curriculum, with documented preparation.
  • Prepare lessons accommodating individual student differences.
  • Present subject matter per TEA guidelines and policies.
  • Use varied instructional techniques and media for student groups.
  • Coordinate with staff to plan and implement goals and methods.
  • Supervise teacher assistants and volunteers as assigned.
  • Incorporate technology into teaching/learning.
  • Assist in selecting books, equipment, and materials.
  • Provide classroom support to teachers working with autistic students.
  • Assist students in improving study methods and habits.
  • Assess student progress and report required progress.
  • Provide or supervise required personal/medical care per IEP.
  • Take on duties and extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Present a positive role model aligned with the district mission.
  • Create a conducive learning environment for student maturity.
  • Demonstrate effective practices for autistic students.
  • Maintain classroom control and administer discipline per policies.
  • Protect students and ensure safety.
  • Supervise students before, during, and after school as assigned.
  • Promote positive work environment and staff morale.
  • Engage in building a shared vision for school improvement.
  • Participate in planning to attain school's mission.
  • Assist in selecting/orienting new instructional staff.
  • Safeguard equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain open communication with students and parents.
  • Hold professional relationships with colleagues and community.
  • Communicate information accurately and clearly.
  • Participate in district professional development.
  • Demonstrate initiative in professional improvement.
  • Observe ethical standards per TEA and community norms.
  • Stay informed of federal/state/district regulations.
  • Compile and file required reports and documents.
  • Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees.
  • Perform other duties as needed for effectiveness.
