Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools is seeking a Para AUT-Severe Level I to provide instructional support for students with disabilities across classrooms, with duties including supervision, implementing IEPs, and data collection.

Responsibilities include assisting in instruction, administering tests and tasks, and supporting in crises or emergencies as needed. Strong knowledge of child development and MS Office is desired.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED or equivalent and passed Praxis Parapro or GACE Parapro (or PSC-approved equivalent)
• 60 semester or 90 quarter hours from PSC-approved college if assessments are not met

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervision, care, and instruction of special needs students across settings (regular classroom, SPED classroom, community) and support IEP implementation.
• Adapt activities and materials to reinforce IEP objectives and facilitate participation for all students.
• Administer first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional.
• Support teachers by administering tests, homework, and makeup work.
• Assist with personal hygiene for medically fragile students and help with daily living tasks as needed.
• Consult with teachers to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Monitor students to maintain a safe learning environment during various activities.
• Record data, maintain student files, attendance, and daily logs for instructional support.
• Provide instruction in small and large groups to reinforce instructional objectives.
• Respond to emergencies and apply crisis intervention procedures when needed.
• Assist with hallway, lunchroom, restroom, and bus duty supervision as assigned.
