Kentwood Public Schools is seeking a ParaProfessional in the Special Education ASD program. The role focuses on supporting students with disabilities in instructional and non-instructional tasks while aligning with IEP goals and PBSPs.

Under supervision, the paraprofessional will assist in classrooms, supervise lunch and bus duties, and help with personal care needs. CPI training and teamwork with teachers are expected, with travel between schools possible.

Qualifications

• Two years of study at an institution of higher learning (equal to 60 credits) OR obtain an associate's degree (or higher) OR pass an approved formal state academic assessment.
• Prior experience working with students with Autism
• Knowledge and training in proper classroom management techniques, such as verbal de-escalation skills and CPI may be required.
• Willingness to participate in professional development as identified by the principal, the special education department, or the school district.

Responsabilités

• Assist students individually or in small groups to reinforce essential learning and social development.
• Assist professional staff in administering classroom assignments and assessments.
• Differentiate instructional materials and skills according to student needs as evidenced by creating, copying and using educational materials.
• Complete district CPI training and maintain certification on schedule.
• Document student learning progress in data tracking systems aligned with IEP/PCS/PBSP.
• Support classroom behavior management to maintain a safe environment.
• Supervise non-instructional areas including lunch, bus duty, playground, and study hall.
• Assist with personal care needs including eating, brushing teeth, toileting, and diapering as needed per PCS.
• Accompany students on field trips to supervise activities.
• Assist with parent contact to foster involvement in education.
• Support students with disabilities to maximize inclusion in classroom learning.
• Utilize student devices and AAC/mobility devices as trained.
• Participate in IEP processes as needed.
• Work between schools may be required.
