Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools seeks a Para AUT-Severe Level I - Special Education paraprofessional to support students with IEP goals in a dedicated classroom. The role involves reinforcing instruction, assisting teachers, and ensuring safe, engaging activities for students with disabilities.

Responsibilities include adapting activities, providing first aid per health guidance, data collection, record keeping, and collaborating with teachers to monitor progress.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional Educator certificate issued by PSC (required)
• HS diploma or GED with Praxis Parapro or GACE Parapro required
• 60 sem hours or 90 qtr hours from PSC-approved college/university required

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities and materials to reinforce IEP goals and enable participation
• Administer immediate first aid and medical assistance as directed by healthcare professional
• Administer tests and homework to support teachers
• Assist medically fragile or physically disabled students with hygiene
• Assist students with daily living activities
• Confer with teachers to monitor progress and implement IEP objectives
• Implement and collect data under supervision of teachers and behavioral plans
• Monitor students to maintain a safe, positive learning environment
• Perform record keeping and data collection for class records
• Provide instruction in various activities to reinforce instructional objectives
• Respond to emergencies and apply crisis intervention procedures
• Assist with monitoring duties (hallways, lunchroom, restrooms, bus duty)
• Perform other duties as assigned
