Job summary

Gersh Autism's Academy for Young Minds in Long Island City seeks a Behavior Technician (Paraprofessional) to support students with autism in a private school setting, ages 5-15, in classrooms of 6-10 students. This is a full-time, 12-month position aligned with the school calendar.

Responsibilities include implementing IEPs/BIPs, providing one-on-one and small group support, aiding with daily tasks and communication, collecting progress data, and collaborating with teachers and behavior

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; higher education preferred.
• Experience with children, especially with autism, is a plus but not required.
• Commitment to supporting students with autism and other developmental disabilities.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to pursue RBT certification within a specified time frame.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with IEPs and BIPs for students with autism.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students.
• Support daily tasks, communication, social interaction and self-management skills.
• Prepare materials and assist students for daily activities and transitions.
• Document data on student performance and progress toward goals.
• Collaborate with teachers and behavior specialists to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Participate in daily training and professional development.
