Job summary

The State Controller's Office is seeking two student assistants to work part-time in the Audits Operations Bureau, where they will verify claims and vouchers for compliance with California law. This role offers exposure to government accounting and audit processes while developing professional communication and analytical skills.

Work is hybrid with flexibility between 8 AM–5 PM, Monday–Friday. Students may work up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours during breaks;

Responsibilities

• Review and determine whether claims are approved or denied based on audit criteria.
• Complete additional deliverables and assignments for audits.
• Support other projects and activities related to claim audits.
• Conduct research and gather information to support audits.
• Analyze and compare claims to criteria for compliance.
• Communicate with SCO audit staff and external auditees as needed.
• Coordinate follow-up with auditees to complete audit activities.
