Job summary

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) seeks a student assistant to work under close supervision with the Utility Payments Team. In a learning capacity, the student assistant will assist with audits and process Utility vendor payments and research transactions in the AMS Advantage System.

This part-time, non-benefited UEI position requires a high school diploma and will be limited to California residents; flexible hours are 8 AM–5 PM, up to 24 hours per workweek during the

Qualifications

• Maintain minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
• Knowledge of fundamental accounting principles and State Accounting processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize to meet deadlines.
• Ability to establish cooperative working relationships.
• Experience with office equipment (scanner, copier, calculator).
• Ability to operate effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with audits and process Utility vendor payments.
• Research and enter transactions in AMS Advantage System.
• Organize and scan paper invoices in the Paper Utility Invoice Automation System.
• Assemble claim schedules for submission to State Controller's Office.
• Perform various utility-related clerical tasks.
