Job summary

Massachusetts School Building Authority is seeking an Audit Analyst I in the Finance department. The role conducts audits of reimbursement requests for school districts and performs closeout audits of construction projects, with hybrid in-office schedule.

Responsibilities include reviewing invoices, identifying ineligible costs, preparing audit reports, and coordinating training for internal and external users of the Pro-Pay system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or business management.
• 2–4 years of full-time professional accounting or auditing experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other Office applications.
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule - minimum of two in-office days per week.
• Knowledge of auditing and accounting principles and practices.
• Knowledge of general report writing methods.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations to solve accounting problems.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions precisely.
• Ability to gather information by examining records, documents, and inquiry.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare general and financial reports.
• Ability to write concisely and develop ideas logically.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion with confidential information.
• Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Audit reimbursement requests and closeout audits of completed school construction projects.
• Prepare audit reports for review by Finance Audit manager and other departments.
• Identify ineligible or duplicate costs and communicate issues to stakeholders.
• Maintain and organize invoices and documentation for Pro-Pay submissions.
• Collaborate with Capital Planning and Finance to ensure timely reimbursements.
• Assist with project closeout documentation and archives.
• Update internal controls and policies related to reimbursements.
• Create and maintain relevant audit reports as needed.
• Respond to inquiries from employees and management.
