Job summary

Lowell Public School District is seeking an Attendance Monitor (part-time) to support students, families, and schools in addressing chronic absenteeism through interventions, outreach, home visits, and connections to district resources. The role is 18 hours per week at $40 per hour with an immediate start.

The successful candidate will collaborate with school-based teams, participate in AIM, and help prepare truancy-related court documents.

Qualifications

• At least two years of post-High School education (Associates Degree or equivalent).
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Familiarity with the school system and/or court system.
• Experience working with adolescents is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Aspen, and other data systems.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with school-based attendance teams and supports the District Attendance Intervention Plan.
• Participates in the Attendance Improvement Model (AIM) process, including reviewing referrals, attending meetings, developing attendance action plans, and making community referrals when appropriate.
• Communicates AIM meeting schedules, updates, and relevant information with community partners, schools and families.
• Prepares and submits truancy-related court applications and appears in Juvenile Court as needed.
• Provides schools with chronic absenteeism data and reports throughout the school year.
• Conducts home visits and recommends students for court referral when appropriate.
• Participates in school, district, and community efforts supporting attendance, family engagement, and dropout prevention, including working with the Graduation Mentor Outreach Program.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Student Support Services.
