Weber State University is seeking an Athletics Study Hall Monitor to supervise the study hall for student-athletes. You will track attendance and subjects studied, enforce study policies, and help maintain a quiet, orderly academic area in the Weber State University facilities.

The role requires Federal Work Study eligibility and strong communication skills, with basic computer abilities to manage small-scale data and reports. This is a paid, part-time campus position based in Ogden, UT.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor student-athletes in/out of study hall using the Study Hall Tracker system and record subjects studied and completion information.
  • Enforce academic area policies such as quiet study, limited socializing, and appropriate computer use.
  • Maintain a quiet, distraction-free environment by reminding students of rules and removing disruptors.
  • Keep the area clean and orderly by tidying chairs and surfaces; replenish supplies.
  • Report issues with programs or equipment to the supervisor; notify if items disappear.

Job Summary/Basic Function
  • Monitor: Using the Study Hall Tracker system monitors will check student-athletes in/out of study hall and record their subjects studied and completion information.
  • Policies: Enforce policies for the Academic Area such as quiet voices, encouraging study not socializing, no Facebook or Internet surfing if computers are needed for academic purposes, etc. Detailed information will be given.
  • Quiet: Maintain a library quiet, distraction-free environment in the Academic Area by reminding student-athletes of noise levels, rules, and/or kicking student-athletes out if they continue to disrupt the academic area.
  • Clean & Orderly: Maintain a clean and orderly Academic Area by pushing in chairs, straightening furniture; and by picking up papers and garbage student-athletes leave behind.
  • Supplied: Make sure there is always an ample supply of paper in the printer, staples and tape are supplied, hole punch and pencil sharpeners are dumped regularly, etc.
  • Follow-up: Keep supervisor apprised of personal schedules (including illness, or changes), notify of any issues with programs or equipment so these can be addressed, or of any items which have disappeared (computer mouse, chairs), etc.
  • Confidentiality: Monitors will at times be dealing with personal information (such as grades, W#s, and the like). Therefore, it is vital that monitors are able to protect and keep confidential any and all personal information.
  • Technology: Run weekly computer updates on each computer in the Academic Area.
  • Clerical: Assist in filing, data entry, creating and sending reports, spreadsheets, progress reports, and so forth.
  • Projects: These will be assigned based on department need, and monitor abilities and interests.
  • This is a pooled position. Applicants are selected from the pool as positions become available. After a period of time, the pool will expire and applicants will be notified.
