Job summary

Marquette University is seeking an Academic Counselor & Tutor Coordinator, Athletics. The role focuses on advising, counseling, and monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes, including at‑risk students. You will coordinate bi-annual progress reports, supervise tutors, and implement NCAA Student Affairs programming.

The position requires collaboration with coaches and administrators to support student-athlete success, oversee eligibility, and ensure compliance with athletics standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in special education, counseling, higher education, education, student development, athletic administration or related field.
• One to three years of experience in athletic academic counseling or related experience.
• 2-5 years of experience in college academic setting.
• Familiarity with college academic environment at advising/teaching level.
• Must be proficient in Word and Excel to assist student-athletes.
• Strong knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic advisement to an assigned group of student-athletes.
• Develop and monitor individualized academic support plans for identified student-athletes.
• Assess and evaluate academic needs and prescribe additional academic assistance.
• Prepare regular academic reports for coaching staff and administrators.
• Meet with prospective student-athletes to discuss the college’s philosophy and support programs.
