Job summary

Manhattan University is seeking an Assistant Athletic Academic Advisor / Compliance Coordinator within the Athletics Department. You will support academic success and eligibility for assigned student-athletes, manage 1–2 teams, and assist in monitoring progress and day-to-day compliance operations.

The role includes advising 2–4 teams, coordinating tutoring and study resources, and collaborating with coaches and compliance staff to ensure compliance and graduation goals are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience in academic advising, student services, or athletics administration preferred.
• Knowledge of NCAA Division I rules is preferred but not required.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn compliance/academic software systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary academic advisor for 2-4 assigned athletic teams.
• Monitor student-athlete academic progress toward degree and NCAA eligibility requirements.
• Conduct weekly one-on-one academic meetings with student-athletes to promote time management and study strategies.
• Coordinate academic support services, including tutoring, study hall, and learning resources.
• Communicate regularly with coaches regarding student-athletes' academic progress and concerns.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date academic records and reports.
• Prepare weekly academic updates to coaches and staff to support success.
• Assist with initial and continuing eligibility certification in collaboration with compliance staff.
• Support programming related to academic success, retention, and graduation initiatives.
• Provide administrative support to the Athletics Compliance Office.
• Assist with data entry and maintenance of compliance systems (recruiting logs, CARA, eligibility tracking).
• Help organize and track required NCAA documentation (forms, logs, waivers).
• Support monitoring of recruiting activities, official/unofficial visits, and playing/practice seasons.
• Assist with educational materials and rules education initiatives for coaches and student-athletes.
• Maintain organized records to ensure readiness for audits and reviews.
