Job summary

AAMU Alumni Association, Inc. is seeking an Athletics Academic Coordinator to plan, execute and evaluate academic programs for student‑athletes. The role emphasizes advising, counseling, and monitoring academic progress to maintain eligibility in intercollegiate athletics.

You will collaborate with faculty and staff to align schedules, support services, and program offerings while participating in evening or weekend activities as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or related field or equivalency.
• 2–4 years of full‑time experience in academic or compliance support within NCAA Division I.
• Strong human relations and effective communication skills.
• Flexible hours including evenings and weekends; travel may be required.
• Additional education may offset experience.

Responsibilities

• Advise and counsel student athletes in academic matters; assist with advising, class registration, and progress monitoring.
• Meet regularly with student‑athletes to discuss performance and skills development; maintain referral resources.
• Monitor academic progress to ensure eligibility; prepare progress reports for coaches.
• Coordinate schedules and course offerings with faculty and department heads.
• Assist in implementing support programs and public relations at athletics events.
• Compile reports such as Graduation Rates, Academic Performance Rate, Equity Act.
• Assist with evening/weekend assignments for conferences and recruiting.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
