Job summary

Talladega College is seeking an Academic Advisor for Athletic Student Retention to deliver comprehensive advising for assigned students, with emphasis on student-athletes balancing academics and athletics.

You will help with registration, degree planning, and navigating NAIA eligibility requirements, while teaching the freshman orientation course and supporting the broader student-success initiatives across the university.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as an Academic Advisor for Athletic Student Retention or similar duties.
• Experience with NAIA, NCAA or NJCAA regulations and ensuring student athletes meet requirements.
• Experience teaching or presenting as shown by seminars or teaching assignments.
• Familiarity with FERPA and HIPAA laws.
• Ability to develop personalized degree plans for student-athletes.

Responsibilities

• Deliver advising experiences for assigned students, including student-athletes.
• Assist with registration and understanding degree and general education requirements.
• Provide NAIA eligibility guidance for student-athletes.
• Teach Freshman Orientation 1-credit course each semester and other undergraduate courses as needed.
• Refer students to counseling, financial aid, career services, or disability services as appropriate.
