Job summary

Talladega College invites applications for an Academic Champion who will provide specialized academic advising and intensive case management focused on Freshman and Sophomore Band students as well as those in the N.A.D.O. program. This role supports student success through structured planning and resource coordination.

Funding is through Title III; reporting to the Director of Student Success in the Academic Affairs division. The position is full-time and on-site in Talladega, Alabama.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education, Counseling, or a related field preferred; Bachelor’s degree required.
• 2+ years of experience in academic advising, student success coaching, or higher education administration.
• Demonstrated commitment to working with at-risk populations and diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
• Excellent communication with students, faculty, and Music/Band leadership.

Responsibilities

• Targeted Performance Advising for Freshman and Sophomore Band students with academic roadmaps.
• N.A.D.O. case management with weekly/bi-weekly progress check-ins.
• Assistance with Degree Progression & Registration to meet GPA/SAP requirements.
• Academic Intervention Teaching for recovery-focused courses.
• Holistic coaching on time management, note-taking, and test-taking strategies.
• Coordinate with the Band Director to align academics with performances.
