Job summary

WSP seeks an Associate Structural Engineer for its Dallas, TX office to support the Property and Buildings Team on buildings, bridges, and roadways. This early-career role involves data collection, analysis, reporting, and collaboration on diverse projects.

You will assist with site inspections, develop modeling techniques, and prepare technical documents while learning design software and compliance standards in a safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant post-education experience.
  • Knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and application to project work-related issues.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including rehabilitation and new design.
  • Highly familiar with relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to exercise sound judgement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from site surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface information, maps, geotechnical data for project development.
  • Perform basic professional structural engineering work relating to researching and inspecting site conditions and determining conformance with rules and permits.
  • Assist with development of technologies, monitoring devices, modeling techniques, and design requirements for safety and functionality.
  • Assist with verifying site characteristics and providing technical assistance on securing structural soundness from loads and pressures.
  • Write technical reports summarizing research findings and conclusions using sketches, calculations, and 2D/3D illustrations.
  • Assist with risk identification and assessment, contributing to design concepts and remediation activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute project work.
  • Assist with work plan preparation and coordination of site work.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Work with other engineers and authorities on projects.
  • Adhere to safety policies and company conduct.
