Job summary

Indiana University Health seeks a patient access associate to manage registration, scheduling and insurance verification, in a hybrid work setting. You will ensure accurate financial and demographic records, coordinate benefits, and support a seamless patient experience across care teams.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and 2 years in rehabilitation services or similar roles, strong communication, teamwork and MS Office proficiency; we value initiative and reliability.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Two years’ experience in Rehabilitation Services or similar job duties (registration, insurance, scheduling) required.
  • Ability to work in a team and maintain collaborative relationships.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, TEAMS).
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills; initiative to meet objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee patient flow from entry to destination with timely, accurate, professional service.
  • Resolve patients’ accounts timely and accurately.
  • Obtain information to generate accurate financial and demographic records, verify insurance, secure prior authorizations, and coordinate benefits.
  • Communicate with payers and patients to ensure accurate financial information.
  • Register patients accurately, schedule recurring appointments, answer calls, and direct patients and visitors.
  • Support department operations and participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Participate in infection control, equipment training, regulatory compliance, safety programs.
  • Order, distribute and maintain inventory of department supplies.
  • Handle higher-complexity tasks with increased productivity and quality standards.

Schedule

Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm

Work Location

Hybrid; must be able to attend quarterly in-person meetings and training.

Key Responsibilities
  • This position oversees patient flow from point of entry to destination and ensures timely, accurate and professional services.
  • This position is responsible for timely and accurate resolution of patients’ accounts.
  • Responsibilities may include but are not limited to obtaining specific information to generate accurate financial and demographic records, insurance verification, prior authorization, and coordination of benefits.
  • Communicate with payers and patients to achieve accurate financial information.
  • Responsible for accurate Registration of patients, Scheduling recurring appointments, answers incoming calls and directs patient and visitors appropriately.
  • Participates in operational aspects of the department and maintains performance improvement activities as required.
  • Participate in all infection control, department equipment training, regulatory compliance, organizational safety and fire safety programs.
  • Orders, distributes and maintains designated and appropriate inventory of department related supplies.
  • This position is assigned to higher complexity tasks than those expected from Associate-Rehabilitation Clinical Support and incumbents are held to higher productivity and quality standards.
REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Two years’ experience in Rehabilitation Services or similar job duties (patient registration, insurance, scheduling) required.
  • Requires the ability to work within a team and maintain collaborative relationships.
  • Requires basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, TEAMS).
  • Requires high level of interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Requires the ability to take initiative and meet objectives.
  • Requires effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires an excellent working knowledge of the Associate of Clinical Support Job Duties.
