The Children’s Home Society of New Jersey is seeking an Associate Program Administrator of Community Based Doulas to support the Program Administrator in coordinating, implementing, training, and evaluating doula services for prenatal, birth, and postnatal care in Trenton.

This full-time role requires maternal-child health experience, strong communication and data-management skills, and the ability to supervise doulas and engage with healthcare partners to improve outcomes.

Associate Program Administrator of Community Based Doulas

Full Time MAIN OFFICE, Trenton, NJ, US

Salary Range: $60,000.00 To $65,000.00 Annually

Position Summary

The Associate Program Administrator supports the Program Administrator in overseeing the coordination, implementation, training, and evaluation of community-based doula services supporting individuals during prenatal, birth, and postnatal periods. This role ensures program effectiveness, compliance, and culturally responsive care delivery while supporting doulas and strengthening community partnerships to improve maternal and infant health outcomes.

Salary: $60,000 - $65,000 per year

Education & Experience
  • Maternal-child health experience
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a certified doula, midwife, labor and delivery nurse or other related experience supporting pregnant and post-partum women
  • 3 to 5 years of experience providing education, case management, home visiting and/or supportive services for women and families
  • Familiarity with hospital settings, either through work or volunteer service
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills required
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to use a database for record keeping, supervision and reporting
  • Experience with program planning and management
  • Computer skills are required and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience working with a diverse workforce and diverse clientele
  • Ability to provide direct service to returning clients as time permits.
Key Responsibilities
Program Coordination & Operations
  • Manage day-to-day operations of labor and birth and prenatal and postnatal doula services
  • Maintain program policies, procedures, and service standards
  • Provides ongoing support and supervision to an assigned portion of the full-time doula team and contracted doulas statewide, as designated by the Program Administrator.
  • Review and approve all end of the month HR and Finance paperwork (PARs, Travel, Time Cards, Invoices, POs, Check Requests, etc.) for each doula on staff.
  • Receives referrals for doula services; maintains a list of all referrals and matches pregnant women with doulas based on client's needs and doula's skill set.
  • Consults with doulas on non-medical questions related to their clients
  • Monitor program capacity, caseloads, and service delivery timelines
  • Provides phone support. Available on call (24/7) by cell phone for non-medical questions related to pregnancy, medical appointments, and births. Processes the birth experience.
  • Meets with doulas weekly to review caseloads, upcoming births, concerns about the prenatal caseload, and discuss all births and postpartum visits.
  • Maintains a calendar of visits and births as well as a master spreadsheet with all required demographic data and birth outcomes.
Staff & Doula Support
  • Serve as a backup doula, as assigned, providing compassionate labor, birth, and postpartum support to clients when the primary doula is unavailable, while ensuring continuity of care and maintaining a calm, supportive environment.
  • Support with the recruitment, and onboarding of the community-based doulas
  • Daily check-in with doulas to ensure their safety and emotional support to the doulas
  • Coordinate training, continuing education, and supervision structures and clinical reviews
  • Support with the facilitation of team meetings and case reviews
  • Promote a trauma-informed and culturally responsive work environment
Data Management & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation
  • Collect, maintain, and analyze data, including birth outcomes
  • Support with reports for funders, stakeholders, and organizational leadership
Community Engagement & Partnerships
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers, clinics, and community-based organizations
  • Increase program awareness through targeted outreach, education, and community engagement
  • Facilitate referrals and support coordination with partner agencies
Compliance & Funding
  • Support program compliance with grant requirements and applicable local and state regulations.
  • Assist with grant reporting, renewal processes, and audit preparation.
  • Support budgeting and resource allocation efforts in collaboration with leadership
