Job summary

Trustbridge Hospice, a member of Empath Health, seeks an Associate Medical Director to provide medical leadership and clinical oversight to interdisciplinary care teams, ensuring compassionate end-of-life care focused on comfort, dignity, and quality of life.

You will guide symptom management, support care planning, and promote hospice and palliative medicine standards, with telehealth visits and in-home or inpatient assessments as needed.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board certification in a related specialty ( Hospice/Palliative preferred).
• Active Florida medical license to practice medicine.
• DEA registration required for patient-facing practice.
• CPR certification required for patient-facing roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical leadership and oversight to interdisciplinary care teams for hospice patients.
• Collaborate with attending physicians to develop and update patient care plans and ensure pain/symptom management.
• Educate hospice staff, patients and families on admission criteria, pain relief and end-of-life care.
• Adhere to Florida Department of Health requirements and applicable regulatory standards.
• Participate in IDG conferences and conduct telehealth and in-home/inpatient visits as needed.

Trustbridge Hospice, a member of Empath Health, is seeking a compassionate and collaborative Associate Medical Director to join our dedicated hospice team. In this role, you will provide medical leadership and clinical oversight to interdisciplinary care teams, helping ensure patients and families receive exceptional end-of-life care focused on comfort, dignity, and quality of life. Formed from the legacy of Hospice by the Sea and Hospice of Palm Beach County, we continue to provide comfort, dignity, and peace to those facing advanced illness.What you'll Do:Promotes and practices the Empath and Hospice Program mission, vision and values and follows all policies and procedures.Collaborates with the patient’s attending physician as needed to develop and update the patient’s plan of care, ensure the provision of direct medical services and to ensure pain and symptom management.Serves as a medical resource and educator to hospice staff, patients, families and attending physicians regarding admission criteria, pain and symptom control management and end of life issues hospice and palliative care.Adheres to the Florida Department of Health requirements, as well as legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements.Actively participates in IDG conferences as assigned, collaborating closely with the Clinical Director and other disciplines with a team approach to ensure that the medical needs of the patient are met.Provides symptom control expertise and communicates with the RNCM to initiate and evaluate treatments for pain/symptom management. Performs clinical visits via telehealth, as well as in the home or inpatient setting and provides regulatory visits to meet recertification requirements.Completes ongoing assessments of the patient’s terminal diagnosis and accurately evaluates eligibility for recertification using the Local Coverage Determination (LDC) criteria.
