Job summary

WSP is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer in Irvine, CA to join our Property & Buildings Team. The role focuses on sustainable design, decarbonization, and renewable energy systems across commercial, healthcare, higher education, and industrial facilities.

You will contribute to PV, BESS, microgrids, EV charging, and integrated control systems from feasibility through commissioning, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and leveraging Revit, AutoCAD, HelioScope, and other tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 1-3 years of relevant electrical engineering experience in consulting/building systems or renewable energy.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
• Working knowledge of single/three phase electrical power systems and low voltage design (<5kV).
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, ETAP, HelioScope, PVsyst or similar software.
• Familiarity with NEC and applicable building codes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Procore is a plus.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; excellent communication.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design and analysis of building electrical systems including power, emergency, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
• Support renewable energy designs: PV, BESS, EV charging, microgrids, and control integration.
• Prepare Title 24 energy calculations and supporting docs.
• Develop solar PV layouts in HelioScope and generate energy yield analyses.
• Create electrical single-line diagrams and renewable system layouts; support DC design.
• Coordinate with architects, mechanical, structural, civil engineers and other stakeholders.
