Job summary

Lyell Immunopharma, Inc. is seeking an Associate Director, FP&A to lead budgeting, forecasting, monthly reporting, and financial modeling in support of a fast‑growing clinical‑stage company.

You will partner with R&D, Clinical, G&A, and Commercial teams to track spend, drive KPI insights, and develop driver‑based models for headcount and program costs, while enhancing FP&A processes and systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• MBA or related advanced degree preferred.
• 8+ years FP&A, financial planning, or related function experience.
• 5+ years in biotechnology/pharma with drug development lifecycle knowledge.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting with cross-functional inputs.
• Own monthly FP&A reporting, KPI measurement, and variance analysis.
• Track spend with R&D, Clinical, G&A, Commercial to identify key cost drivers.
• Develop driver-based financial models linking headcount and expenses to performance.
• Lead headcount and operating expense planning in collaboration with HR and leaders.
• Support long-range planning with cross-functional input and timely submissions.
• Improve FP&A systems, data integration, and forecasting methodologies.
• Coordinate with Accounting to align forecasts with actual results.
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis for strategic decisions.
