Job summary

McKinstry in Dallas, TX seeks an Associate Electrical Engineer to support Distributed Energy Resources (DER) projects. You will lead electrical design efforts, mentor engineers, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions for building systems.

You will drive design, analyses, and standards development while ensuring scope, schedule, and budgets meet client needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Professional Engineer registration (PE) or ability to obtain licensure in additional states.
• 8–10 years of electrical engineering experience in the built environment.
• Experience designing/constructing commercial and light industrial electrical systems, including emergency power and medium-voltage campus distribution.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit; strong electrical analysis skills (arc flash, short circuit, load flow).
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to manage multiple projects and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design projects including building distribution, lighting, and emergency power systems.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to set best practices and ensure project success.
• Oversee analyses and align with pre-design efforts and sales proposals.
• Develop technical standards and guide deadlines and budgets.
• Engage clients and stakeholders to tailor solutions and address regulatory challenges.
