Job summary

Tidewater Tech is seeking a program coordinator to assist in managing all program aspects, supervise faculty and staff, and handle daily administrative operations.

You will help develop curriculum, schedule courses, evaluate instructors, and ensure compliance with regulatory and safety requirements, while supporting student success through FAA readiness initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to learn and apply technology systems.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organization and communication skills.
  • Experience coordinating programs and staff is valued.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Program Coordinator in managing all aspects of the program and staff.
  • Develop curriculum, prepare course materials, schedule classes, and maintain equipment.
  • Complete instructor and course evaluations on a regular basis.
  • Lead faculty meetings and participate in training and conferences.
  • Document meeting minutes and communication records.
  • Assist in staff hiring, disciplinary actions, and staffing decisions.
  • Assign classes and substitute when needed.
  • Advise students on academic progress and attendance and document concerns.
  • Audit curricula to ensure up-to-date syllabi and materials.
  • Ensure compliance with education regulations and safety standards.

  • Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 6:00pm
Compensation:up to $69,500 annually
Position Purpose

This position is responsible for assisting in the coordinating all aspects of the program, including supervision of faculty and staff and performing administrative functions related to daily operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist Program Coordinator in managing all aspects of the program, including supervisionof faculty and staff and performing administrative functions related to daily operations.
  • Assist Campus and Home Office Education directors in developing curriculum, preparing course materials, class scheduling, and maintaining tools and equipment used by students.
  • Complete instructor and course content evaluations on a regular and timely basis.
  • Conduct faculty meetings and participate in educational conferences, professional training, and seminars, as well as staff and department meetings, as assigned.
  • Take minutes from meetings and document them accordingly.
  • Assist in staff management, including interviewing, hiring, administering disciplinary actions, and dismissals.
  • Assign class and teaching assignments.
  • Stand in as a substitute instructor to accommodate staffing needs.
  • Advise students for academic and/or behavioral issues, academic progress, attendance or additional concerns and document accordingly. Act as advisor to “at risk” students.
  • Audit all program curricula to ensure that instructors are using the most current syllabi, lesson plans, and textbooks.
  • Ensure program is operating under all Department of Education and Accrediting Commission, federal/state/local laws, regulations, rules and code requirements.
  • Monitor student performance on required projects to ensure proper completion and compliance with the program curriculum.
  • Document, track, and monitor student action notifications in Campus Nexus including, attendance, probationary status, recycles, drops, restarts, LOAs, and transfers.
  • Ensure supplies, materials, equipment, and tools are inventoried, maintained, purchased when necessary, and are in place for required class projects.
  • Assist in or manage the design and development/fabrication training aids and materials that meet the requirements and needs of the program curriculum.
  • Work with Education leadership team to design training aids that will help meet the requirements of the program curriculum.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other workplace safety regulatory agencies through implanting hazard analysis, identification of possible hazards, and evaluate effectiveness of Hazard Control systems, policies and procedures. Make necessary safety recommendations.
  • Assist in equipment training, certification and/or inspections for the program.
  • Participate in formal and informal mentoring of new employees to support onboarding, training, and joining a positive work culture that supports the institution and its students.
  • Support instructors in coaching students toward successful FAA knowledge and practical exam completion in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Ensure tutoring, remediation, and structured support are available to students who require additional assistance.
  • Collaborate with Student Success on FAA Certification exams and outcomes.
  • Track and analyze student outcomes including course completion rates, retention, graduation timelines, and FAA certification readiness and success.
  • Assist in or manage the design, development, fabrication, and maintenance of training aids to support curriculum objectives.
  • Oversee accurate documentation within institutional systems, including student attendance and academic records, academic action notices, and faculty Personnel Reports (FPRs) and Staff Personnel Reports (SPRs).
  • Perform and complete other tasks that may be assigned by Supervisor

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Persuasive and effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service in an educational setting.
  • Highly motivated and goal-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and as collaborative team member and have exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills are required with proficiency in MS Office applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams. CampusNexus experience a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to work outside of regular work shifts, including evenings and/or weekends as necessary or as requested by Supervisor.
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally and/or overnight for business purposes.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • American Welding Society (AWS) certification within the first six (6) months of employment
