Job summary

Tidewater Tech in Norfolk, VA is seeking an instructor to deliver automotive technology instruction in classroom and lab settings. The role requires maintaining a safe learning environment and monitoring student progress, with duties that include curriculum support and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED and at least three years of practical automotive experience; ASE certification is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Deliver automotive technology instruction in classroom and lab settings.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and productive learning environment.
• Monitor student attendance, academic progress, and performance; maintain accurate records and submit required reports.
• Support curriculum development, course preparation, equipment maintenance, and student retention initiatives.
• Communicate student concerns, attendance issues, and other matters requiring attention to the Program Coordinator.
• Participate in required training, professional development, and instructor development activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by school leadership.

Location: 4535 E Princess Anne Rd, Norfolk, VA 23502

Compensation: up to $31/hour

Schedule: Monday - Thursday (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday OFF!)

• 4:00 PM - 10:30 PM OR 12:00 PM - 10:30 PM

Education & Experience

• Knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, repair procedures, and industry safety standards.
• Strong communication, organizational, and recordkeeping skills.
• Proficiency with computers and instructional technology.
• Professional demeanor with strong attention to detail and commitment to student success.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and teach both day and evening classes.
• Commitment to completing at least 20 hours of annual technical update training.
