Job summary

Tidewater Tech in Norfolk, VA seeks a Career Success Coordinator to guide students from enrollment through graduation into meaningful employment.

You will drive certification completion, career readiness, and placement preparation, engaging students early and maintaining strong employer relationships. The role requires a student-centered approach, solid communication, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED, and preferred associate or bachelor’s degree.
  • 1–2 years of experience in student services, career services or related role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with a student-centered approach.

Responsibilities

  • Actively manage a student caseload and meet defined performance metrics.
  • Drive certification readiness and placement preparation for students.
  • Support students through certification and placement processes.
  • Build trust and rapport with students and engage them early.
  • Coordinate with education teams and career services partners.
  • Document interactions, outcomes and required audits accurately.

About the Role

The Career Success Coordinatorhelpsstudents successfully transition from enrollment to graduation and into meaningful employment. This position supports students throughout the full student lifecycle by proactively driving certification completion, career readiness, and placement preparation.

As aCareer Success Coordinator, you willengage students earlytobuild strong and consistent relationships, supporting them through certification and placement.

Key Responsibilities
Performance & Accountability
  • Actively manage a student caseload and meet defined performance metrics, which mayinclude:
  • Retention and persistence
  • Certification readiness and attainment
  • Graduation progression
  • Career readiness and placement-related leading indicators
  • Contribute to a performance-driven culture focused on measurable studentoutcomes
Student Engagement & Advocacy
  • Serve as a consistent point of contact and career readiness advocate for assigned students, building trust, rapport, and accountability
  • Proactivelyidentifyand address barriers to certification readiness and job placement
Certification Support
  • Partner withtheeducationteamand studentsuccesscoordinators tomonitorcertification readiness anddrive certification outcomes
Career Readiness & Placement Preparation
  • Introduce career readiness concepts early in the student journey, including resume development, professional behavior, and labor market awareness
  • Support students and graduates with career planning, job search strategies, and interview preparation
  • Coordinate with employer engagement and career services partners to prepare students for successful entry into the placement window
  • Assistwith job applications, documentation, and placement-related follow-up as assigned
Data, Documentation & Compliance
  • Accurately documentallstudent interactions,engagementactivities,outcomes, and supporting materials
  • Participate in cohort tracking, G&E chart confirmation, andrequiredaudits, includingweekly and monthly reporting tied to student success metrics
Events, Programming & Collaboration
  • Support,participateinand/orfacilitateworkshops, application stations,commencement,alumni events, career fairs, and certification readiness activities
Other Duties
  • Performadditionalresponsibilities as assigned by thesupervisor, including onboarding and ongoing training related to student success systems, performance metrics, and operational processes
Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate or bachelor'sdegree preferred
Experience
  • 1–2 years of experience in student services, career services, advising, workforce development, recruiting, or a related support role
  • 1 year of related experience in a proprietary (for profit), post-secondary educational setting preferred
Skills
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills with a student-centered approach
  • Comfortable working in a metrics-driven environment with shared accountability
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and willing to learn new systems
  • A positive, team-oriented approach and willingness to work outside regular business hours and travel locally or overnight as needed
