Position Summary
The Assistant Warehouse Manager supports the Warehouse or Location Manager in ensuring the operational efficiency of a client location with limited supervision. This role involves developing and implementing location policies and procedures, managing relationships with motor carriers, conducting operational analyses, and improving operational efficiency and client satisfaction. The majority of time will be spent in the office or warehouse, maximizing site performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The key functions include:

• Overseeing daily operations to meet objectives
• Serving as the point of contact in the absence of the Warehouse/Location Manager
• Supporting Lean Six Sigma implementation
• Enforcing compliance standards
• Planning and scheduling distribution services
• Managing dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation activities
• Fostering open and positive team communication
• Building strong relationships with service providers and clients
• Communicating operational goals and motivating staff to achieve them
• Enforcing safety management plans
• Delegating tasks and managing a team of up to 4 direct reports
• Interviewing, training, and selecting employees
• Determining work hours and pay
• Using independent judgment and discretion
• Performing other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Preferred: Associate degree or comparable experience
Skills: Prioritization, organization, follow-up, analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication, relationship-building, independence, teamwork, adaptability, multitasking, organization, attention to detail, intermediate computer skills, familiarity with Lean principles.

Non-Essential Duties
Includes communicating with motor carriers, coordinating with other departments, decision-making, adaptability, and embracing new technology.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in logistics or related field; 2+ years experience in logistics or warehousing.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
