Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools seeks an Assistant Outdoor Track Coach (Temporary) to support the track program with coaching duties, student engagement, and coordination of practices and travel.

The role may require Alabama teaching certification (preferred), coaching education completion, and the ability to obtain a CDL. A Board-approved stipend of $1,000 is provided for the contract period.

Qualifications

• Alabama Teacher’s Certification preferred or considered based on qualifications
• Previous sports participation or coaching experience preferred but not required
• Completion of AHSAA Coaches’ Education Program requirements
• Must have or be willing to obtain CDL

Responsibilities

• Assist in the coordination and supervision of the track program and team
• Ensure that all athletic activities conform to AHSAA guidelines
• Know effective safety procedures in their sport, plan and implement instruction in safe practices
• Assist the Head Coach in scheduling and travel arrangements

• Previous experience in sports as a participant and/or coach (preferred) but not required
• Completion of all requirements set forth by the AHSAA Coaches’ Education Program
• Must have or be willing to obtain CDL

• Assist in the coordination and supervision of the track program and team
• Ensure that all athletic activities conform to AHSAA guidelines
• Knows effective safety procedures in their sport, plans and implements a program of instruction in safe practices
• Assists the Head Coach in scheduling and making travel arrangements when asked

SPECIAL NOTE: The person selected for this position must agree to a background check, be fingerprinted, and pay a $46.20 fee. This is required by law.

For employees starting work after the beginning date of the work term, the salary will be pro-rated and based on the number of contract days left in the school year, divided by the remaining months in the contract year.
