Job Description and Position Requirements:
Position Summary:

The Assistant Teaching Professor in Construction Management is a full-time faculty position within the Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering Program at Penn State Harrisburg. We seek an enthusiastic individual committed to teaching, research, and service, fostering an inclusive learning environment, engaging in collaborative research, and supporting institutional goals.

Anticipated Start Date:

August 2025

Responsibilities:
  • Teaching: Expect to teach 12 credit hours per semester, focusing on areas such as modern construction methods, intelligent construction systems, sustainable materials, safety, cost estimating, scheduling, BIM, ethics, and building codes. Participation in recruitment, advising, and supervising graduate experiences is also required.
  • Research/Scholarship: Keep current with pedagogical advancements and share activities through seminars and conferences.
  • Service: Serve on departmental, school, and college committees, promote diversity in STEM, and engage with the regional community.
Qualifications:
  • Education: At least one graduate degree in construction engineering, civil engineering, or a related field.
  • Expertise: Background in construction engineering with emphasis on project management, sustainable materials, safety, codes, economics, and BIM.
  • DEIB Commitment: Incorporate inclusive teaching methods and support diverse student needs. The college offers resources to assist with course development.
  • Experience: Prior teaching experience in civil or construction engineering is preferred.
