Job Description and Position Requirements:
Position Summary:

The Assistant or Associate Professor of Civil Engineering is a full-time, tenure-line faculty position within the Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering Program at Penn State Harrisburg. The focus is on infrastructure development and environmental/water resources engineering. Candidates aiming for an Associate Professor with tenure should meet Penn State Harrisburg's promotion and tenure criteria.

We are seeking:

An enthusiastic and dedicated individual committed to teaching, research, and service, contributing to a welcoming and inclusive learning environment, fostering research, and engaging in service activities aligned with institutional goals.

Anticipated Start Date:

August 2025

Responsibilities:
  • Teaching: Expectation to teach 9 credit hours per semester, with a reduced load of 6 credits in the first two years. Areas may include water resources, sustainable infrastructure, urban development, environmental engineering, or risk assessment. Participation in recruitment, advising, and supervision is also expected.
  • Research: Engage in scholarly activities, with priority on land development, construction-environment linkages, sustainability, resilience, and interdisciplinary research. External funding acquisition is encouraged.
  • Service: Serve on committees and promote diversity in STEM within the community.
Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in civil engineering or a related field by August 2025.
  • Background in construction, environmental, or water resources engineering, emphasizing sustainable and resilient infrastructure.
  • Rank and tenure will depend on experience.
