Job summary

El Macero Country Club in El Macero, CA is seeking a full-time Assistant Superintendent to join the golf course maintenance team. You will assist with day-to-day agronomic practices and oversight of the course and adjacent grounds, stepping in for the Superintendent when needed.

You will supervise staff, manage irrigation and turf care, and ensure safe, efficient operations with a focus on quality and member experience. A strong background in turf management is required or preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of turf grass management experience preferred.
• Supervisory experience required.
• A four-year college degree preferred, but not required.
• GCSAA member or apprentice preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of budgeting and expense management.
• Must possess basic computer skills—Word and Excel.
• Strong business aptitude and passion for the golf business.
• Highly organized and efficient with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and supervising maintenance of tees, fairways, roughs, and greens; manage turf and landscape care.
• Oversee daily golf course setup, irrigation checks, and water management.
• Schedule and supervise maintenance to maximize efficiency of staff and equipment.
• Supervise grounds crew operations with safety as a priority.
• Calibrate and apply fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides; operate related equipment.
• Train equipment operators on mowing and equipment care; supervise pesticide applications.
• Prepare reports, maintain records, and manage relations with professionals and members.
• Oversee pumps, wells, irrigation system, and drainage network; participate in maintenance.
