Job summary

American Golf Corporation is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to oversee golf course and landscape maintenance under the Superintendent’s direction, training staff and implementing agronomic programs while reporting to golf leadership.

The role requires a degree in agronomy, turf management, or a related field, proficiency with MS Word/Excel, and a valid driver’s license. Flexibility for varied schedules, including evenings and weekends, is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate with co-workers and management.
• Spanish language ability may be required in some locations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Proven time management, organization and prioritization skills.
• Member of Golf Course Superintendent’s Association preferred.
• Certified pesticide license required.
• Ability to operate equipment used for golf course maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license.
• College degree in Agronomy/Turf/Horticulture preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Superintendent in all facets of daily operation.
• Act as Superintendent on duty in the absence of the Superintendent.
• Maintain appearance and safety of the course; diagnose agronomic issues; manage irrigation adjustments; maintain turf in extreme conditions; coordinate tournament prep.
• Oversee maintenance operations and supervise staff; assist in recruiting and scheduling.
• Assist with administrative tasks by maintaining records and developing reports; track expenses.
• Perform manual labor as needed.
• Communicate course conditions with staff and members/guests.
• Implement American Golf initiatives and programs.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
