Job summary

American Golf Corporation is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to oversee golf course and landscaped area maintenance. Under the Superintendent, you will train staff, resolve HR issues, and implement agronomic programs. You may assume Superintendent duties in their absence.

You will manage irrigation, turf conditions, and course prep for tournaments while coordinating safety and environmental initiatives. Strong communication with staff and members is essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management.
• Spanish-speaking ability may be required in some locations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Time management, organization and prioritization skills.
• Member of the Golf Course Superintendent’s Association preferred.
• Certified pesticide license required.
• Ability to operate all equipment used for golf course maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license.
• 2- or 4- year college degree in Agronomy, Turf Management, Horticulture, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Superintendent in all facets of daily operation.
• Act as Superintendent on duty in the absence of the Superintendent.
• Maintain appearance and safety; diagnose agronomic issues; manage irrigation; tournament prep.
• Manage maintenance operations, staffing, training, scheduling, evaluating and supervising.
• Assist with maintenance records and cost tracking; inform Superintendent of needs.
• Perform manual labor as needed.
• Communicate course conditions with staff and members.
• Implement and support all American Golf initiatives and programs.
• Other duties may be assigned by management.
