Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in California to support daily store operations, customer service, and team development. You will help with opening/closing, merchandising, payroll, scheduling, and loss prevention while maintaining a clean, organized sales floor and stockroom.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, a guest-focused mindset, and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Must have store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store.
• Able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Excellent customer service and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and answer questions.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise and handling payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked store areas and secure assets.
• Ensure policies and safety guidelines are followed.
• Help supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Foster a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
