Job summary

Family Dollar in Lumberton, NC is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will oversee day-to-day activities, assist customers, and help manage stock and displays while ensuring a welcoming shopping environment.

The role involves opening/closing duties, following corporate directives, payroll/scheduling, and safeguarding assets. It is a part-time position requiring strong leadership and communication, with a focus on teamwork

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Assist customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and store communications.
• Maintain promotional displays and storefront fixtures for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, record keeping (including payroll/scheduling/cash handling), and loss prevention.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked store and organized stockroom.
• Protect store assets, including cash; adhere to safety policies to ensure compliance.
• Support Store Manager in supervising, training, and developing store associates.
• Foster a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness across the store, bathrooms, and floors; handle waste and restocking.
• Other duties as assigned.
