Job summary

Family Dollar in Burlington, NC is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service, and team development. You will help with opening and closing procedures, merchandise movement, and cash handling while ensuring friendly, professional interactions with customers.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks; frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, and climbing.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional integrity of store-front fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, record keeping, and loss prevention.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked store areas and secure all assets including cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; train and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Keep bathrooms clean, restocked, and floors swept/mopped; manage trash and neatness.
• Other duties as assigned.
