Job summary

Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries, founded in 1916, operates a large retail store network in Ohio. We seek a Retail Assistant Store Manager for the Greater Cincinnati Area to oversee daily operations, staff supervision, merchandising, and donor interactions, ensuring efficient, safe, and customer-focused store performance.

The role requires weekend/holiday coverage and collaboration with the Retail Store Manager.

Qualifications

• Two years of previous retail progressive management experience supervising several departments and/or staff or more employees preferred.
• Experience selecting, assessing, coaching, and developing associates.
• Proficiency in setting and managing schedules for store staff.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Broad knowledge of the thrift and resale industry and ability to react to competitive situations preferred.
• Highly developed sense of customer service and interpersonal skills including high integrity and respect for all individuals.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and executes the overall operation of the retail store in partnership with the Retail Store Manager.
• Performs daily administrative/clerical functions of store operations such as cash transactions, ordering supplies, and opening and closing the stores.
• Work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays to support store operations.
• Assist in the supervision and training of employees.
• Greet donors, unload donations, sort items, handle cash, and maintain an orderly sales floor.
• Create exceptional customer service for internal and external customers.
• Monitor donation processes and enforce security procedures.
• Maintain staffing levels and payroll expenses; train new associates.
• Ensure budgetary store readiness and effective communication with divisions and stores.
