Follett Higher Education, in Chicago, seeks an Assistant Store Manager to support a Market Leader or Campus Store Manager in overseeing operations and driving sales growth. You will mentor the team and focus on brand and operational excellence to deliver an engaging customer experience.

Responsibilities include scheduling, training, merchandising, onboarding new hires, cash handling, and inventory. Requires flexibility to meet business needs.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent preferred.
• 0–5 years of retail or bookstore experience preferred.
• General computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise sales team members (FT/PT and temporary) and manage scheduling.
• Train new team members, including seasonal staff for peak periods.
• Ensure adherence to store policies and operational standards.
• Maintain merchandising, promotions, displays, and signage.
• Onboard new hires and support customer service excellence.
• Greet customers, answer phones, resolve escalated issues, and ensure a hassle-free experience.
• Handle cash processes, deposits, and daily sales reconciliation.
• Stock shelves, perform inventory, and assist in store cleanliness.
• Provide coverage for other staff during breaks or peak times.
• Assist with opening/closing procedures as a keyholder.
• Contribute to end-of-month reporting and AR/bad check recovery where applicable.
