Job summary

Family Dollar in Anniston, AL seeks an Assistant Store Manager to oversee daily store operations, assist customers, and develop the team. You will organize merchandise, support opening/closing procedures, and manage payroll and scheduling while ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming shopping environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical duties (frequent walking, standing, bending, etc.).
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and store communications.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for storefronts.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling.
• Keep store areas well-stocked and organized to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure staff follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep store clean and presentable, including bathrooms, floors, and trash.
• Other duties as assigned.
