Job summary

Family Dollar in Bowling Green, KY is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily operations, drive customer service excellence, and develop the store team. You will help with merchandise organization, opening/closing duties, cash handling, and loss prevention while ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment.

Ideal candidates bring high school diploma or equivalent, store supervision experience in retail, and strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as part of duties.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping, and loss prevention.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked store and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect store assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store; bathrooms, floors, trash, and neat presentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
