Job summary

Family Dollar in Huntsville, TN is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, assist customers, and develop the store team. You will support opening/closing procedures, merchandise flow, and loss prevention to maintain a clean, organized sales floor.

The role requires strong communication and customer service skills, ability to lift up to 55 lbs, and a collaborative, high-energy store environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store preferred.
• Must lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Move merchandise from delivery to stockroom and display areas as needed.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process directives and maintain store communications and reports.
• Maintain promotional fixtures, displays, and overall storefront appearance.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged items, payroll and scheduling, and loss prevention.
• Keep store areas well-stocked and organized to company standards.
• Protect and secure all store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies, safety guidelines, and ensure staff compliance.
• Help Store Manager supervise and develop store associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep store clean, restocked, and presentable; manage bathrooms, floors, trash.
• Other duties as assigned.
