Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in Kingsburg, CA to support store operations, customer service and team development. You will assist with day-to-day store activities and help deliver excellent service to customers in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include merchandising, scheduling, payroll, loss prevention, and ensuring store policies are followed. The role emphasizes leadership, safety, and training of Store Associates in a high-energy retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical duties.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom and sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety procedures and ensure staff compliance.
• Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe environment with professional interactions.
• Maintain store cleanliness and restocking duties.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
