Job summary

Big Lots is seeking a motivated individual to support our Stores as we provide essential products at great values to communities we serve. The Assistant Manager will help deliver excellent customer service and support the Store Manager in overall store operations to meet company goals.

You will assist with hiring, training, and supervising hourly team members, manage daily store activities, and ensure safety and asset protection while maintaining a high-energy, customer-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Prefer prior retail and management experience.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50lbs from floor level to above shoulder height; frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, twisting, and repetitive lifting.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hiring, training and development of store team members as delegated by the Store Manager.
• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day activities as directed by the Store Manager.
• Open and close procedures in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Maintain clean, safe, and welcoming store environment and recovery of stockroom and sales floor.
• Direct hourly Team Members when the Store Manager is not on the premises.
