Job summary

Family Dollar in Morganton, NC is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to oversee store operations, customer service and team development. The role includes opening/closing duties and implementing corporate directives while maintaining merchandising standards and a safe shopping environment.

You will train and supervise associates, manage stock, protect assets, and ensure a positive, friendly experience for customers. This is a part-time opportunity requiring strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical duties including walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, and climbing

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures
• Process all corporate directives and communications related to store activities
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits) and loss prevention
• Maintain clean and organized store areas to company standards
• Protect and secure all company assets including store cash
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure associates follow procedures
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers, associates, and leaders
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store including bathrooms, floors, and trash removal
• Other duties as assigned
