Job summary

Family Dollar in Columbus, OH is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations and deliver excellent customer service. You will oversee merchandise flow, assist with payroll and scheduling, and support loss prevention while training and developing Store Associates.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns they may have.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise and perform record keeping including payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits/receipts; support loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure staff follow procedures.
• Help store manager supervise, train, and develop store associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Ensure cleanliness of the store, bathrooms, floors, and overall presentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
